According to Directorate General of Protection Against Infectious Disease and Health Department of Republic of Indonesia, as of 30 June 2006, the number of HIV+ cases in Indonesia has reached 4527, and AIDS cases as much as 6332. Central Java is the province on the 9^th position in number of People with HIV AIDS, and the province ‘contributes’ 855 HIV cases in Indonesia. Semarang, as the riskiest city in Central Java has 225 HIV AIDS cases.

 

Our LC cares about the HIV/AIDS issue, and we’re about to conduct a project and invite the participations from all LCs around the world to take part and show the contributions about this global issue. Our project intends to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS and to stop the stigma to people with HIV/AIDS.

 

 

CHAOS Launching, November 17th 2007

This activity’s purpose is to give a big picture about the current conditions of HIV/AIDS in Semarang, Indonesia, and in other countries.

The trainees will present an explanation about HIV/AIDS in their countries. Besides, there will be an orientation about the solution of the problems which already been done in each region.

The participants will be the BoAs, NGOs, partners, the activists of other organizations in the university, and of course, the trainees.

 

 

HIV/AIDS Promo & Campaign, 29-30 November 2007

AIESEC members of our LC will gather and do some campaigns at youth spot, such as campus, mall, and so on, before world’s AIDS day to lift up the students and public awareness about AIDS pandemic through the educative flyer handout to public.

 

HIV/AIDS Day, December 1st 2007

AIESEC LC UD will cooperate with all of HIV/AIDS NGO to conduct an annual event in AIDS Day in Semarang. Last year, we construct ribbon-shaped human chain configuration consists of more than 4000 people, and we put on view a big white ribbon statue, which could turn red of the audience’s participation. This year we planned to do something more spectacular!

TRAIN THE TRAINER, 9th-10 February 2008

We are going to have training camp for AIESEC members with support from our trainees, and other participants. In this training camp, the participants will be educated to get some skills, so they can involve as volunteers in HIV/AIDS campaign, conducted by AIESEC and by NGOs as well.

WORKPLACE CAMPAIGN, 16th-24 February 2008

In this event, we are going to visit and do a campaign in workplace that has high risk for their workers, such as in harbors. Most of HIV/AIDS spread because of 3M (Man Mobile with Money). Therefore, in the campaign we are going to give informative explanation about how the HIV spreads and how to keep themselves from infected by the virus.

 

Save Our Society (SOS), 3rd-10th March 2008

SOS is a HIV/AIDS road show. In this road show, we are going to educate society directly, about the spread, prevention, until the way they should treat HIV/AIDS positive person. The road show is going to be conducted around the communities in Semarang.

Closing Conference, March 17th 2008

The conference will officially shut the series of CHAOS events. In this last event, the participants, the facilitator, and all parts of these events will discuss about the strategic planning to stop the HIV/AIDS pandemic for the future. The conference could also provoke the contribution of the society to proactively solve the multiplying of the HIV/AIDS cases.
